I dreamt that I was visiting some unnamed city. The group I was with included my wife, my aunt, and some people who do not exist. We were eating treast, including but not limited to rice krispies.

A person we didn't know came up to us and asked for food. She was dirty and wearing slightly tatered clothes. One of the people we were with broke off bits of rice crispy and literally threw the food in an arc at the person.

"Thank you," said the woman as she caught the first bit of food. The second bit of food veered way off and fell down the cliff beyond a hand rail. "That was mean."

"It was an accident," said the thrower.

"Mahjong!" came a voice from the other side of the rail. There wasn't a pit anymore, it was a train rail area, and on the other side of it was a group of people hanging out. One was a different woman holding a board game.

The woman on this side started speaking a different language, and pulled out a... chess board for some reason. The pieces were setup incorrectly on the board and they were screaming moves to each other. Playing some game that wasn't chess, and wasn't mahjong.

But it was time to get on the train... to get to a different train.

We almost missed the first train, but caught the second half of it. There was immediately a long line on the train to get into the bathroom. Someone in the line was drinking clear liquid. He stopped halfway through the glass and asked, "Is this water?"

"It's vodka," said someone else as he finished drinking the glass.

"I'm going to be sick," he said, as he rushed to the front of the line for the bathroom. It was at this point I noticed his hair looked like an upside-down boot. As I realized this, it took on a more solid form of a boot.

"Food is ready," came a voice from behind. I turned around and there was a whole cart of food. I inspected it for low-sugar, vegan goods. Which is interesting. Seems the subconscious is in full agreement with my diet. Though I was eating a rice krispy treat earlier? Minor inconsistency.

At this point, there was a police raid on a train. The captain being the dirty woman from earlier. Some criminal was caught on the train, and the food needed to be taked as evidence. But I had found some curry and rice I wanted to eat.

"No!" I screamed as I tried to grab some food before it was taken away. I was tazed. "Worth it," I thought as I shoveled food into my face whilst still being tazed. That was the end of the dream.

Last month was a Lexicon++ kickoff in SF. Meaning I've been on my current project for a month. Not moving fast enough.

Last week was a WFH day. Solid day. This was the day before my flight to Tucson.

Yesterday, I started noticing that I'm feeling a bit ill. Today it's becoming more clear that I am ill. It may be this chronic illness I seem to get regularly. So, I'm going to tag today and yesterday with it. I can maybe go back and find the other days where I had this illness, but that might be hard.

My goal is, going forward, I'll note each time I feel sick for multiple days where I don't get my wife sick (aka I'm not contagious) as this chronic illness, and then I have data to give a doctor when I next see a doctor.

But in any case, my systems are keeping me productive in this state! I'm losing a bunch of time, though, due to extra sleep needs. I'm going to see if I can get a good number of pomodoros even though I came in late today, and plan to leave today at the same time (as is important to avoid a vicious cycle that'll hurt my sleep).

Let's see if I can get a pomodoro every half-hour until I leave (except for the nap).

Next day review again (hopefully back to day-of from now on).

Today was a super solid work-day. In spite of me showing up pretty late and doing my planning at work. I made a goal of a pomodoro every half-hour and mostly made that goal. I ended up not doing the final pomodoro and doing some ping pong instead.

This is super exciting for several reasons. One, yesterday was almost a sick day. I did not have energy, and in fact I was super tired by the time I got home due to my being ill. I had that thing where I overheated really easily and everything was more tiring. Also, a slight stomach ache. This is a sickness that happens pretty regularly. And I've never been productive when sick like this.

Until today. And not only was I productive, I was as productive as usual in less time. Which just tells me I need to step up my game.

Which is absolutely the goal.

I also finally am going to deploy tomorrow something I've been working on for a month, and I can't wait to start a cycle of:

  • Customer feedback
  • Give something to customer
  • Customer feedback
  • Give something to customer
  • Etc.

It is going to be a big priority moving forward.

I decided to sleep in and skip climbing because of my feeling ill. I don't want to hurt myself. I ended up doing plenty of pull-ups at work, as well as walking to work and walking home instead of running. A good compromise, and also a good means of gauging how sick I feel.

I'm really hoping to be back to climbing by Friday, but will be okay with myself if I put it off until Monday.

I watched the first Harry Potter instead of working on personal projects. I had no energy after I did some basic cleaning and cooking in the kitchen. I think this was the correct choice.

My system is proving to be quite valuable when I'm in a non-ideal state. And I'm showing that I'm quite capable of adapting when necessary. For instance, doing these end-of-day reviews the next day works... for the most part, and is a good way of dealing with running out of energy.

I'm bought into the system enough to not let myself fall too far behind.

Watching:

Lots of short YouTube videos today.

We've decided to watch the Harry Potter movies after finishing the books. We're almost done with the third book, so we'll watch the first three pretty quickly. The next four books will be long listens, so it might be a while before watching those.
